For the first time ever in a GT game, players can simulate their own races against their in-game opponents, with a choice of three configurations: Single Race mode, Career mode, and a Test Track Race mode. The single race mode features two game modes: First is the "Race of 60 Minutes", where the driver must win each section. The second mode, "Race of 1 Hour", combines both sections into one race. In career mode the player starts with a preset car, or can choose his own. The player then goes through a standard career mode of events, gradually improving his car, and is rewarded with a "money bonus" for the season. Upon completing a race in Test Track mode, the player can take a "smash and grab" approach to win by beating the in-game AI opponents on each track, or play Test Track mode allowing the player to tune and dial in his/her race car.
